Poon Hill Trek 3 Days is a short trek that allows you to experience the classic Annapurna Trail with magnificent views of the Annapurna range Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukuche, Varaha Shikhar, and Lamjung Himal along well-maintained trails through lush green rhododendron forests. The trek allows you to have a closer look at the Magar community while you savor their culture of warm hospitality, and the magical sunrise view from Poon Hill gives you a one-of-a-kind experience. 

Well-established accommodations, with enough facilities, on a moderately easy trail with a mix of cultural and natural experiences, this trek is ideal for all ages, particularly families.  

 

A Journey to Poon Hill From Pokhara Only In 3 Days:

This 3 Days Poon Hill Trek Start From Pokhara or Kathmandu. Early in the morning just after breakfast, our trek guide will take a tourist jeep to meet you in your hotel in Pokhara. If you are in Kathmandu early in the morning we take a flight to Pokhara and our plan starts from the tourist hub of Pokhara City. The jeep drive from Pokhara to Nayapul 40 km in 1.30 hours is a wonderful experience on a wide road just below the hill. You will see many hotels and lodges on the way.

Nayapul is a very famous point for trekkers. It is a starting point for different trekking routes like Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Mohare Danda Trek, Ghandruk Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, Tatopani Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, and other many Annapurna Region Treks. There are many porters and guides waiting to start the trek.

You can check the trekking gear as there are a few shops selling different trekking items like boots, raincoats, sticks, or even porters if you want to add them depending upon your needs.

After 1 hour walk from Nayapul, you will reach Birenthati where we will have a permit check-up at the tourist check permit check post. Our trail starts again to reach Tikhedhunga in an hour where we will have Lunch. Now, We ascend gradually upward through the steep stairs to reach Ulleri. We will stay overnight at Ulleri in the teahouse.

The next day early in the morning after breakfast we started our trek to reach Ghorepani by passing a narrow stream and water bodies, Rhodendron forest, Bamboo trees, and more than 3000 stairs to reach beautiful Ghorepani Gate. Again there is a permit check-up at the tourist information center at Ghorepani. There are many hotels in Ghorepani Village which is a Poon Village. You will stay overnight at Ghorepani.

The next day early in the Morning at 4 am before breakfast we hike to Poon Hill 3210m in about 1 hour through steep stairs. Today is the major highlight of the whole trek as you are witnessing the majestic Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri, Fishtail, Annapurna South, Thapa Peak, and many other Annapurna Himalayan Ranges from 3210m Poonhill. After 1 hour of witnessing the sunrise view from the Majestic Himalayan Range, we descend down to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we walk down to Ulleri through the same trail and take the jeep to Pokhara We will have Lunch on the way.

Itinerary

You will be received by your guide and transferred to Nayapaul by vehicle, where you will commence the trek. 


Pass the checking point and continue walking to Thikedhunga. From here, begin your steep uphill hike along the paved stairways. The trail is a bit challenging, but a slow and gradual walk while enjoying the view around will surely get you to the destination in no time. 

Overnight Stay at Beautiful Ulleri Village.

    The trek begins with an uphill hike through rice, maize, and millet fields. Continue walking through a scenic area of rhododendron blossoms and old oak forests. Then ascend to reach Nangethanti and finally to Ghorepani.

      Start early before sunrise and hike for about half an hour to reach Poonhill. Poonhill provides one of the best sunrise views over the Himalayas of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fishtail, and Singa Chuli. Enjoy a Masala Tea or Coffee as you witness the majestic view.  


      Later return to Ghorepani for breakfast, and continue your journey to Ulleri. Retrace your foot to the same route to reach Ulleri. Then you will be transferred to Pokhara.

        Accommodation and Facilities During 3 Days Poon Hill Trek:

        The 3 Days Poon Hill Trek is one of the most well-maintained trails in Nepal. 

        Just like the other trekking trails, the accommodation here is also the basic tea house. But you have the option of an attached bathroom, and almost all hotels have hot and cold showers available. 

        Wifi and a charging station are also available but we pay extra cost for this and that too inside the room!!. 

        You also have quite an option for food. While we mostly suggest travelers have Dal, Bhat as it provides enough carbs, you may find menus with options to satisfy your carving.  


        Who can join the 3 Days Poon Hill Trek In 2023/2024?

        The 3 Days Poon Hill Trek is considered an easy to moderate trek. 

         It can be accomplished by someone who is generally fit and active in day-to-day life. However, people with joint issues and problems related to breathing are recommended to consult with doctors. 

        The only challenging part of this trek is the 3000 uphill steps to Ulleri on the stone-paved stairways. But be assured that this is just an hour or two walk. So, a slow and steady walk while enjoying the view will help you cross this part in no time. 

        The trail is well maintained with enough facilities and vehicle roads linked to Ulleri, which assure the travelers, that the trek is ideal for all ages and even best for families with kids. 


        Guide & Potters for the Poon Hill Trek 3 Days:

        Now that it's compulsory to hire a guide in every part of the trekking route, it's always best to have one that will help you show you the proper route, educate you about the place, and for your safety and security while walking through the dense jungle. 

        If you are someone who can carry a bag of approx. 8- 12 kgs on your own, then you might not need a potter. But having one potter for a group of 1 to 2 is always a good idea for you to hike freely and comfortably. 


        Safety and Security During Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek 3 Days:

        3 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is relatively safe for all travelers. The kind citizens of the Magar Community are always ready to assist you, while the guide and potters add a layer to your safety. 

        Though all the trails are well-marked, it's always best to walk at a distance where your guide can track you. Wifi and Phone networks are connected in almost all places and vehicle routes have reached Ulleri so the place is easily accessible. 

        Though monsoon season might not be the best time to visit the place, for some travelers who wish to, it's advised to keep your heads up from landslides and floods which might also affect the phone and wifi connectivity as well as the transportation.
